Who is this?

Hello! I'm Jose, a proactive and rigorous doer from the design to the implementation of new ideas and projects. I love teaching. As a team leader and project producer, I trust in constant, actionable feedback and motivation as the keys to great performance. My decision making and problem-solving is based on applying multi-perspective analysis to every situation. I define success as a positive impact on peoples' lives.

My motto: Learn one new thing every day

or optimize a couple of them!

CURRENTLY...

Lead Game Designer in Pendulo Studios

I have worn many hats these years, and I hope to continue doing so!

Originally hired as QA (and part-time CM) for Blacksad: Under The Skin. I gave some good ideas*. Shortly after, I changed roles to Junior Narrative & Game Designer for Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo.

Some things happened: we grew from 20 to 80+ people in the studio, learned to work remotely, changed to Unreal, tried developing new game genres,  created new workflows to accommodate those changes and...

Today [May 2023], I'm the Lead Game Designer for Tintin Reporter - Cigars of the Pharaoh. And I keep learning daily from my talented, awe-inspiring, trustworthy coworkers.

*JUNIOR ROLES ADVICE: If hired as QA, providing 'design advice' may be considered a negative trait in certain studios.

Board Game Designer (Tibetana, 2023)

Two friends called me to participate in the development of a board game. The art was amazing; the game idea felt so fresh... I couldn't say no!

Some years later... Tibetana is almost out!

I was in charge of simplifying and balancing the core mechanics, designing future expansions, conducting extensive playtest and pitching the game to potential publishers.
